I feel that the truest art is born of necessity and joy.
This child may be dressed in revelry or rebellion, but she is being: our only mission.
To be: ecstatically, awkwardly, loudly, fumblingly.
It is the being that is important.
I am most present when making expressions of the world and this life, whether of paint and canvas or ink and paper, a spiral of sand, a bough of threads. This experience of being present translates differently for everyone.
My individual style of work alternates from detail-soaked realism to complete abstraction, from photo montage to surreal expressionism, often playing with a sensual undercurrent;
the artworks are usually united by the inclusion of words:
text, poem, automatic/subconscious writings..
and by a lack of convention fostered by fervent personal and artistic beliefs and a wholly self-acquired technique.
My goal as an artist is to push traditional artistic boundaries -
to cause individuals to pause, wonder, QUESTION -
or to simply linger in a patch of light a moment longer
than they might have.
